Cover Letter: Our Lady Peace and David Cook

To Whom It May Concern:

I think I am the person for this job because I totally think I can do your song better than you. Also, I don't really want to take the time out of my busy schedule to write my own song.

Now, We all know that 9 out of 10 covers totally suck, but every now and again we are blessed with a true gem. You will have to judge for yourselves because everyone has different opinions. I, for one, am a firm believer that you are asking for trouble if you even try to cover any Queen songs. Others disagree. So, that is what we are asking you to do today; judge for yourselves. And, of course, let us know what you think.

OUR LADY PEACE: MTV UNPLUGGED

DAVID COOK: AMERICAN IDOL STUDIO VERSION

Now, in Davids defense he did this song on AI so he didn't really have a choice but to do a cover. Also, I think it's fabulous!!! I'm just saying....And yes, that is totally unbiased. How dare you question my ethics.

Okay...you're right.

I love that man, and would defend him with my dying breath. I am a "cookie" after all.

I must agree with you... David's version is better. The other guy was off key and kinda all over the place vocally...

Plus, the boy is just so damn fine. I mean vocally superior.

I am a bit of a cover snob. Outside of Me First and the Gimme Gimmes (the ultimate cover band), I have a difficult time with covers. He mixes it up a bit with the addition of choirs, so I have to give him props for actually bringing something to the table. But I have to admit to being more partial to Raine Maida's voice. Sure he uses that funny falseta, but that denotes an Our Lady Peace song more than anything else. Seems a bit blasphemous to sing these words without it.

And is David Cook really more fine than Raine Maida? I beg to differ.
