Under Cover Super Stars of Punk

As long as we are on the topic of cover bands, I present the world’s finest – Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. Cover songs are their profession. Formed by members of bands such as Lagwagon, Swinging Udders, Foo Fighters, and NOFX, the Gimmes have covered songs from every conceivable era and genre. Whitney Houston? Been there, done that. Phantom of the Opera? Yeppers. Judy Garland? Please. A far superior rendition. R&B, Motown, Show tunes, Synthpop, Metal, Traditional Religious Hymns. . .
Check. Check. Check. Check. Check. And Check.

The great thing about the Gimmes is their attitude toward their craft. They proudly proclaim their aversion to practicing. They revel in their lack of talent and originality. Every recording session is just an opportunity to par-ty. . .

And so I bring to you the finest cover of the Anne Murray classic, “Danny’s Song” that your ears will ever encounter.

David Cook doesn’t even have a prayer of coming this close to cover perfection.
