Thursday's Throwback- The Lightning Seeds

This is so underrated as far as I'm concerned. It has a relaxed feel without being depressing, and great lyrics. The first song I'm gonna play you is most likely not one you've heard unless you have this album. The album is called Cloudcukooland. It was released in 1989, I believe. The song is Joy. It's kind of a sad one, but has a thread of hope creatively woven through it. It's the ultimate lovers' repentance.
It has great sentimental value for me and I needed to hear it. It helped me get someone back when I made a huge mistake. I almost ruined my life. In fact, had this song not helped me say what I needed to say, life as I know it now would not exist. Pretty cool stuff.

Give it a listen and let me know what you think.

This is a song that everyone has probably heard. It's so great!

Perhaps someone you know could sparkle and shine!

You never know...

Good call Cleo. Love them both. I think the names should be reversed. The first pure and the second joy. It fits better that way, but I guess they aren't about stating the obvious.

I love it and my 1 year old daughter Darcy loves it. She's getting her groove on as I write.

Ah Cleo... You have brought a tear to my dry heart! I went to see Ian and the boys as a Sophomore. I took a girl I had a HUGE crush on but with whom I was permanently stuck in the "friend zone". Standing in the front row swaying and rubbing up against her to "Pure" was the closest I ever got to making out with that lass.

We ran out to meet Ian at his tour bus hoping to beat the huge crowds that were sure to press him. We waited for about 3 minutes and he came walking up all by himself to get back on the bus. I asked him to sign the sleeve of the sweatshirt I was wearing and he seemed genuinely surprised and pleased at my request. He signed it and talked to us for a few minutes and then excused himself. I couldn't for the life of me figure out where all the other fans were. It wasn't until I got to school the next day to show off his autograph to all my friends that I realized that no one else had any friggin idea who the hell "Lightning Seeds" were. I made so many copies of Cloudcuckooland to hand out trying to spread the word that I ruined it. To this day I Ian's definition of love is as fine as any I've heard.

if love's the truth then look no lies
and let me swin around your eyes
i've found a place i'll never leave
shut my mouth and just believe
love is the truth i relize
not a stream of pretty lies
to use us up and waste our time

Leave it to a dorky, pasty English boy with glasses....

I love the Lightning Seeds. I drove all the way across the United States listening to these guys two years ago. *sigh* Brings back the memories. Love it.
