What do you think about this one? The Killers cover "Four Winds" by Bright Eyes Cleo's Pick o' the week

I hesitated to post this because I knew that Chopsie would complain because it's
But we all know that when it comes to the fabulous Mr. Flowers and Co.
Mr. McChops-alot is just a jealous mess...
I can't help myself. I love this song.
I love The Killers.
All of them.
A lot.

Some say this song is really controversial, but I think it rings true... I wanna know what you think. I am of the opinion that this cover is, dare I say, better than the original... Here are the lyrics for your perusal.

Your class, your caste, your country, sect, your name or
your tribe
There's people always dying trying to keep them alive
There's bodies decomposing in containers tonight
In an abandoned building where

Squatters made a mural of a mexican girl
With fifteen cans of spray paint in a chemical swirl
She's standing in the ashes at the end of the world
Four winds blowing through her hair

But when great Satan's gone... the whore of Babylon...
She just can't sustain the pressure where it's placed
She caves, she caves

The Bible's blind, the Torah's deaf, the Qu'ran is mute.
If you burned them all together you'd get close to the truth
Still they're pouring over Sanskrit on the Ivy League moons
While shadows lengthen in the sun

Cast all the school and meditation built to soften the times
And hold us at the center while the spiral unwinds
It's knocking over fences, crossing property lines
Four winds cry until it comes

And it's the sum of man slouching towards Bethlehem
A heart just can't contain all of that empty space
It breaks, it breaks, it breaks

Well, I went back, I rent a Cadillac and company jet
Like a newly orphaned refugee retracing my steps
All the way to Cassadaga to commune with the dead
They said, "you'd better look alive"

And I was off to old Dakota where a genocide sleeps
In the black hills, the badlands, the calloused east
I buried my ballast, I made my peace
With four winds leveling the pines

But when great Satan's gone, the whore of Babylon
She just can't remain with all that outer space
She breaks, she breaks, she caves, she caves
She breaks
You'd better look alive

Look young lady, 1. I never whine and 2. I like the killers, just not as much as you do. Heck, I dont even like Mrs Chops as much as you like the killers, but thats irrelevant. Ill tell ya what worries me about the killers though. You remember Coldplay? I loved them at one time. And I mean L O V E D them. And then they started to take themselves too seriously. And I'm kinda startin to see Brandon takin the boys down that path. Conor's version of this song was serious but still playful. Especially the video with the hecklers and the revival feel to it. I really like this song by the Killers too but.. I dont know... I just feels heavy. Dont get me wrong, I'm downloading this on Limewire as we speak but.. I worry.

1. You're a total whiner.
2. Your wrong. Plain and simple.
3. Poor Mrs. Chops.
Coldplay is an ok band- but they are nothing like these guys. Aorry- but it's true and I'm pretty sure Chris Martin would agree. They do have a great sense of humor (collectively as well as individually) and they are supremely talented. They're just underrated in the states.
Here, hip hop rules...
THAT is something you should worry about....

I'm basically loving this song. Basically. I get what Chops is sayin about it sounding a bit heavy. But I sorta dig it to be honest. Also, I'm just dang mad at Chops right now. I give him wonder and reflection and even dedicate it to him and he ignores. I'm officially withdrawing chops. It's official. Dang.

I know what you're saying Amberd. Chops totally ignored my Lily Alan post too. And it was screaming for a classic Chops style smart ass remark. I think we've been black balled girl.
