Manly Music Monday

You are going to take this wrong. I know this from experience. Way. WAY too many experiences. You'd think I would have learned by now to keep my opinions to myself. Especially when I know they will not be received in the spirit in which they were intended. You'd think so, but you'd be wrong. I continue to tell Mrs Chops that her pants make her butt look big. I also tell her right as we pull up to Church her rouge appears to have been applied rather haphazardly. I do this just because that's how I roll. My life would be ever so simpler if I didn't but I do and here we are. So just know that I don't take offense at you taking offense, it is expected.

Pandora has been forcing The Flaming Lips on me for months on end. I keep telling it I don't like them, but then a couple hours later it say "I know you didnt like that last one, but I REALLY think you will enjoy this little gem, just give it a shot." And since Pandora and I have such a good relationship and it has been so good to me in the past I will listen and give a big thumbs down. Until it gave me this.

The tune was intresting enough that I let it pass for a few times. And then it grew on me. Something about the lyrics kept chewing on that little piece of skin in the back of my brain. After a couple of weeks of playing in the background I got curious enough to google the lyrics while I was at work and something coalesced.

The name is Yoshimi
she's a black belt in karate
working for the city
she has to discipline her body

'Cause she knows that
it's demanding
to defeat those evil machines
I know she can beat them

Oh Yoshimi, they don't believe me
but you won't let those robots eat me
Yoshimi, they don't believe me
but you won't let those robots defeat me

Those evil-natured robots
they're programmed to destroy us
she's gotta be strong to fight them
so she's taking lots of vitamins

'Cause she knows that
it'd be tragic
if those evil robots win
I know she can beat them

Oh Yoshimi, they don't believe me
but you won't let those robots defeat me
Yoshimi, they don't believe me
but you won't let those robots eat me

I have a lot of Yoshimis in my life. Brave, strong, women who battle day in and day out to defend me and the general populace from the evils that would tear us all to pieces if they ever let down their guard. I get to go to work every day and putter along in the blissful ignorance of the working man. While my Yoshimis struggle constantly to keep the robots at bay. I may not see all the robots you fight off, but I've seen the scars from the battles you fight. And if sometimes the fight wears you out, I'm sorry. I'll do my best to fend em off while you take a well deserved bubble bath.

Oh, and Pandora, I apologize. I'll listen more often from now on.

I like this song a lot too. I'm not a huge flaming lips fan, but this was good. Props to Chops. That rhymed. I know I'm funny.

Please don't let the robots eat me. Stupid evil natured robots.

I am kinda diggin this.

And I'm not gonna lie- I totally deserve a loooong bubble bath.

As for your big mouth- just try what Mr. Cleo does-- "Honey, it's not the PANTS that make your butt look big..." then just let the rest of the phrase kinda trail off and smile sweetly at her. It'll work. Trust. Me.

I would not listen to this song very often on purpose, but I don't hate it.

Oh- and you're totally welcome for my utterly fabulous Yoshiminess.
